Despite complexities in the economy jobs advertised were up ~6% in September 2022, compared to the monthly average of 2021.

Job applications also increased by 8%, compared to August 2022. This may be influenced by employees seeking a higher salary due to the cost of living crisis.

The best day for job applications is a Thursday. Previously it was a Monday.

The most active industry was IT (23%), with more job adverts and applications than any other sector. This is followed by education (18%), health and medical (12%). However, we expect new data to arrive in a few days that may suggest Hospitality and Catering roles have exceeded IT.

Most applications were received for IT (27%), followed by engineering (12%) and office roles (11%).

Our A/B split testing of job adverts found a 37% increase in job applications by including a salary rather than ‘competitive’ or ‘negotiable’.
