Skilled Wood Machinist / Furniture Craftsperson

This is a great opportunity to work for a well-established family run furniture manufacturer based in the North East.

They require a skilled wood machinist / furniture craftsman to join our development workshop. The ideal candidate will be a skilled wood machinist with experience of working in all aspects of solid timber/board materials in the manufacture of high quality fire surrounds, bathroom and bedroom furniture. You will be required to build a wide variety of bespoke furniture to a very high standard. You will be working with MDF and high value lacquered veneers and solid wood products. You will be proficient in the use of workshop machinery such as routers, moulders, planers, lathes, saws, sanders and other machinery that are required to produce the product.

The role requires forward-looking market awareness, concept creation and detail design. An appreciation of the commercial implications of engineering decision making, attention to detail, the ability to work effectively with other team members, a keen focus on delivery and the ability to turn fast-paced, client-driven requirements into profitable solutions are all critical to the success in the role. You will have a natural flair for generating concepts and developing them further both within a team and as an individual. Working closely with the workshop, production, design departments, you will see your concepts develop and put to market.

Skills and Experience:

- Experience of working to a high standard of finish
- High attention to detail
- Flexibility with the ability to adapt to varied tasks
- Broad experience in all areas of the machine shop
- Ability to read and understand drawings and schedule documentation
- Have good numeracy skills for calculations and measurements
- Have a good understanding of the health and safety machine guarding regulations
- Positive attitude, with a drive to succeed
