Production Assistant (Maternity Cover – Fixed Contract)
A production assistant is required to join the UK’s leading provider of security marking and asset identification solutions. The company has just celebrated 32 years in business. The successful candidate will be joining a company with a strong team ethic, which creates a very enjoyable environment to work in. PLEASE NOTE that the role is a fixed contract position to cover maternity leave starting July 2018 ending September 2019.
About The Position
This is an exciting new position for a hard-working and enthusiastic operations/production professional with the desire to make a positive impact within a £2m+ turnover business, with strong growth prospects both in the UK and abroad.
You will report to the Operations Director and be responsible for:
- Opening up production, turning on machinery and computers, reading and actioning emails, prioritising workload for the day
- designing and producing orders using the laser machines
- designing and producing orders using the label printers
- overseeing laser jobs
- assembling orders as per packing lists
- boxing and packaging orders
- maintenance and cleaning of equipment
- checking orders prior to shipping in order to comply with ISO9001 procedures and processes
- reading and dealing with internal emails
- booking couriers through UPS and other courier’s software
- postage and franking of mail
- double checking sales order paperwork for completeness and accuracy
- hitting production deadlines
- carrying out stock counts on a regular basis
- notifying management of low stock levels
- prioritising inbound orders
- maintaining security and confidentiality of company information
- attending specialist shipping courses
- ensuring good health and safety practices are maintained
- maximising all downtime with filling-in jobs
- adhering to all company policies and ISO standards
You will need:
- good communication and interpersonal skills

- to be punctual and not a clock watcher
- self-motivation and drive
- a competitive streak to get things done in a quick efficient manner
- good IT skills (MS outlook, excel, couriers on line shipping systems, and programmes used for the printers and lasers)
- clean driving licence (preferable)
Salary and Benefits:
- £14,500-18,500 dependent on level of experience
- 8 hours per day (8:30-5:30)
