This leading train engineering business offers a comprehensive range of refurbishment, maintenance, overhaul, engineering support, project management and repair services to the UK rail and light rail sector, focusing on passenger trains, passenger trams, specialist infrastructure vehicles as well as general material and equipment supply. They are based in Kilmarnock, employ over 100 people and pride themselves in their innovative approach and quality of their work.

They have an exciting opportunity within the Production Team for an Overhaul Fitter / Engineer at their depot in Kilmarnock. You will be part of the team responsible for carrying out scheduled overhauls on a wide range of fleets that are part of their portfolio.

Role Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Carry out overhaul of rail vehicle components in accordance with relevant instructions (including but not limited to - valves, solenoids, auxiliary contacts, actuators, contactors)
- Test overhauled components in accordance with relevant instructions and specifications
- Monitor and maintain overhaul material levels in line with project requirements
- Adhere to their safety, quality and environmental systems and controls in line with company policies and procedures
- Carry out fault finding and repair of overhauled electro-mechanical components
- Interpret schematic and wiring diagrams
- Responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of overhaul area and tooling
- Assist with production activities as required by the Production Manager

Key skills / attributes:
- Time-served Mechanical / Electrical Fitter – preferably gained within the Rail Industry
- SVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Extensive knowledge of rolling stock overhaul requirements
- Able to handle pressure and meet tight project deadlines
- Team player – understands the value of working together to get the job done
- Process oriented – able to make changes to make the job more efficient and communicate why

As an Overhaul Fitter / Engineer you will be working from Monday-Friday dayshift, 40hours over 4.5 days. There is a possibility for overtime, including weekends and overtime if the business requires it.

This a permanent role and is not offered on a contractor / self-employed basis.
