Established in 1960, this company has over 50 years’ experience in producing environmental solutions via the manufacture of heating, air conditioning and ventilating products. This company has built up a wealth of experience that can only be achieved with time. The business has a very experienced and loyal workforce many of whom have in excess of 20 years’ service with the company. Operating to all relevant BS quality standards, this company has an ongoing continuous improvement programme aimed at developing every aspect of the business.

Due to increased growth they are now looking to recruit a proficient Operations Manager with experience of working within a busy manufacturing environment.

Facilitate and achieve results as identified by the Group UK Stratgey

Leads a team of empowered employees to continuously meet and exceed customer expectations.

Directs and monitors progress in developing ‘Operational Excellence’ within the site, to include all aspects of Manufacturing and Customer/Despatch Service on site responsibility.

Reporting directly to the managing director, role responsibilities will include:
- Production management of Metalwork shop, Assembly & Production, Wiring Shop and Despatch
- Liaising with the Buyer, Production Co-ordinators, Sales Teams and Factory Manager
- Planning daily production and effectively communicating it with the department managers.
- Ensuring scheduling, production and delivery targets are met.
- Reducing downtime of all machinery and ensuring maximum efficiency.
- Problem-solving any machinery or tooling issues.
- Process improvements - Identifying and leading change improvement programmes.
- Manage despatch department ensuring all delivery schedules are met.
- Oversee all Health & Safety practices within the business

Key skills required for this position are:

- Competent in IT and numerical skills
- Understanding of technical and manufacturing processes and machinery
- A good working knowledge of all H&S practices within a manufacturing environment

- Ideal candidate has 8 or more years of experience in Management, with at least 4-5 or more years of experience in a leadership role
- Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement program and development of quality standards & systems
- Previous work experience ideally includes experience in business and operational processes
- Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper opportunities
- Must have functional understanding of cost accounting and adopt to practical application
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts
- Must be an innovator and embrace lean fundamentals, principles and practices
