Operations Manager - Engineering
c£42K-£50K (depending on experience) and benefits North Yorkshire
This company supplies, installs and maintains a range of market leading systems and equipment with applications in a variety of industries including construction, mining, quarrying, civil engineering, transport and recycling / waste management.
Their revenue and profit have grown substantially in recent years and they have ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001 certifications.
Reporting to the Finance Director and based at their offices near Harrogate / York, this is a key role within their management team and a real opportunity to influence how their business develops in the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages all aspects of Operations with regard to Service, Delivery, Efficiency and Communication
- Efficiently and effectively lead Operations Support team (3) and Field Engineers (12) to ensure that products and systems are installed, serviced and maintained to the highest standard
- Maximizing profitability, growing and developing existing revenue streams from their Asset base and ensuring work is carried out “right first time”, thus reducing warranty problems
- Promoting a culture of Continuous Improvement and always striving to improve working practices and efficiencies.
- Identify and address any operational issues in a timely fashion
- Ensure H&S requirements are always met, engineers have the right equipment and that any audit findings are followed up.
- Plan for the business’ ongoing operational needs, including technology, facilities, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, permits, health regulations, employment law, etc.
Applicants should have the following experience / characteristics:
- Engineering background – mechanical as a preference, but experience more important than formal qualifications
- Management and leadership experience within an operations environment that has a strong focus on quality
- Experience of managing field / remotely based teams of service engineers would be advantageous
- Understanding and appreciation of the benefits of working in ‘Lean’ environments
- Strong focus on Continuous Improvement with a track record of implementing initiatives that have delivered tangible efficiencies and improvements
