This organisations Mid England Membership area requires a part time (home based) Membership Development Officer (MDO) based in the East of England to work with other members of the Mid England Team & active Members, to deliver membership support & promote the benefits of membership to non-members.

They will work in conjunction with the Membership Manager and MDOs in the Mid England region to develop & deliver a coherent regional strategy for membership development, including co-ordinating the development & delivery of their training & services to individuals & companies mainly within the Essex & Hertfordshire areas.

Duties & responsibilities
- BD - developing & marketing activities to progress & support aspirant members for the different routes to membership and ensuring effective delivery across the East of England
- Membership growth – undertaking activities to promote & grow membership mainly within East of England
- Membership Support – providing advice & guidance to members and non-members mainly in the Essex & Hertfordshire area
- Employer Support – providing advice & guidance to employers on professional development
- Further Education establishments– developing links & projects to raise awareness of their membership & professional development
- Working closely with the Mid England Membership Manager, existing MDOs, Membership Support Centre & Membership areas to ensure a consistency of approach

What are they looking for?

- Applicants must be educated to degree level or equivalent experience of civil engineering &/or training & development. A Chartered Civil Engineer (or a broad knowledge of Civil Engineering) would be desirable.
- Previous business development experience would be advantageous
- Previous exposure to liaising with a wide audience of people, along with the ability to engage & relate to senior members of the engineering & education professions. Ideally you should also be experienced at working with volunteer committees
- Attention to detail & the ability to turn technical material into non-technical outputs are essential, as is the ability to target & engage a diverse range of audiences
- The ability to work alone & as part of a multi-functional team, while managing & planning a number of simultaneous tasks effectively is key to this role
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare & deliver presentations. You will also be capable of public facing interactions on a personal & group basis
- You must have a good working knowledge of MS Offices. Experience working with databases is useful
- There will be a need to work with volunteers outside “normal office hours”
- A willingness to travel East of England– wide & to Birmingham for team meetings
