This is an exciting opportunity to join a world leading, rapidly growing business within the NDT Industry undertaking design, development and manufacture of specialist inspection equipment for the non-destructive testing (NDT) industry.

They currently have a rare and fantastic opening at their Silverwing site, based at Swansea to join an innovative forward-thinking company and work as part of a friendly and highly motivational team in an excellent working environment.

The role will involve closely assisting the Mechanical and Electronic Engineers by ensuring prototypes and products are assembled and tested in line with timescales and quality metrics. The role will also include being involved in multiple aspects of a project such as prototyping, assembly, test and validation, procurement, transfer to Production and sustaining.

Role & responsibilities:
- Closely support the Electronic Engineers by:
o Assisting with PCB and cable assembly
o Assembling and testing prototypes / systems
o Carrying out fault finding on electrical components
o Creating test jigs to test electronic designs
o Reporting issues back to the Electronic Engineers with the aim of product improvement.
- Closely support the Mechanical Engineers by:
o Assembling and testing prototypes / systems
o Carrying out fault finding on mechanical components
o Creating test jigs to test mechanical designs.
o Reporting issues back to the Mechanical Engineers with the aim of product improvement.
- Assist with Technical documentation such as work instructions, user manuals and test procedures.
- Liaise with procurement and suppliers to ensure development parts arrive on time and to a high-quality standard.
- Coordinate tasks with the project manager to achieve timely delivery.
-Coordinate with the Production Engineer to ensure products are smoothly transferred into Production.

Qualifications
- N.V.Q. level 2 or higher related qualification in an engineering related discipline

Experience
- Ability to assemble PCBs component assembly, including surface mount component soldering.
- Ability to assemble and terminate electronic cables (e.g. solder cup) to a high-quality standard.
- Experience of mechanical and electronic fault-finding down to component level.
- Proven experience in delivering or coordinating prototype builds and 1st-run production systems within a high-tech engineering / manufacturing company
- Understanding of precision mechanisms
- Ability to accurately read mechanical drawings and -electronic drawings and schematics
- Ability to understand embedded programming and program microcontrollers would be an advantage
- Workshop skills including turning and milling would be an advantage.
