Machine Operative (Mill)
This company is one of the leading importers and processors of Softwood Products in the UK and operates from four distribution centres; Glastonbury, Andover, Huthwaite and Kingswinford.
Role
This is a key role for a machinist to take charge of one of our high speed production wood machining lines, to work efficiently at all times.
Responsibilities and Attributes
- Ensure Health & Safety requirements and the Company Smoking Policy are observed at all times.
- Carryout daily defect checks on the machine you are responsible for operating. Immediately report any problems found.
- Run all lines at the recommended feed speeds or above at all times without compromising on quality or safety.
- Take an active role in working to continuously improve working practices and environment.
- Record all production and downtime accurately.
- Be observant at all times of quality and finish of sawn or prepared timber. Inform Mill management immediately when a discrepancy occurs.
- Supervise the team on your production line and be responsible for ensuring they are fully occupied at all times and comply with all Health and Safety requirements.
- Carry out daily and weekly maintenance tasks as instructed and trained by the Mill management.
- To deputise for Machine Operators on other lines / machines when necessary and authorised.
- To be familiar with, and to follow closely, all relevant requirements laid down in ISO: 9001-2000.
Hours of work
Monday- Thursday 8.00am-4.50pm
Friday 8.00am-3.50pm
Total: 39 hours per week
