This company is a global manufacturer of wind towers. From their world class manufacturing facility site at Machrihanish, on the west coast of Scotland, they provide “ready to install” tower solutions for the onshore and offshore wind energy market. They employ over 100 people all of whom are dedicated to providing a high quality service to their valued clients.

They are currently recruiting for an experienced EHS Manager to work in their fast-paced manufacturing site. Their Black Tower, White Tower and Internal Mounting Departments work to demanding but achievable production schedules and the EHS Manager has the key role of promoting and enhancing a safety culture.

Purpose of Role
Reporting to the Quality & safety Function Leader, this role will provide expertise and ensure adherence to the organisation’s EHS policy and procedures.

Strategic responsibilities
- Ensuring that all legal obligations placed upon the organisation are met.
- Monitoring changes in Health and Safety legislation affecting the business and updating
policies and procedures accordingly.
- Proactively identifying existing and emerging health and safety risks, proposing risk mitigation strategies and escalating as appropriate.
- Communicating relevant EHS matters to the organisation.

Core responsibilities
- Working with managers in maintaining and improving EHS standards across all departments.
- Staying informed as to relevant skill and qualifications levels required by staff for effective performance, and circulate requirements and relevant information to department managers.
- Surveillance and reporting on health and safety practices and systems.
- Proper and timely assessment of risks to health and safety, and implementation of measures and arrangements identified as necessary from the assessments.
- Ensuring that appropriate Fire Evacuation procedures are in place and are updated and
tested regularly.
- Ensuring there is adequate first aid provision and that first aider training is maintained.
- Ensuring that all accident and incidents are fully investigated, recorded and followed up.

The successful person will have:
- Prior experience working in a H&S role within a manufacturing environment (essential).
- Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in the UK and Europe
- Experience implementing robust systems for risk assessments, accident reporting, audits and inspections.
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Energy, commitment, drive, adaptability, creativity, problem solving and decision-making capabilities
- An ability to create a culture of continuous improvement
- Excellent IT skills
