Shifts offered are waking nights & days, some flexibility is important. The general work pattern is:
Waking nights :
Sun to Thurs from 21:00 to 09:00
Fri to Sat from 19:30 to 07:30
After school :
Mon to Thurs from 15:30 to 21:00
Fri from 15:30 to 19:30
Weekends/School holidays
Variable shifts depending on family activities.
Pay rates :
Days – £13 p/h to £15 p/h
Nights – £14 p/h to £16 p/h
Our client
Our client is a 12-year old girl with complex physical & learning disabilities, she is non-verbal & has sensory impairments, so full support is needed to undertake all activities of daily living. She is fed via a gastrostomy & uses a combination of facial expressions, symbols & eye pointing to communicate, she is also exploring Eyegaze.
She requires a high level of care both during the day & especially at night as she frequently wakes & has an unpredictable sleep pattern. She uses CPAP to support her respiration at night & needs attention with regards to her gastrostomy/fluid intake.
Our client enjoys the company of happy, lively people with outgoing personalities. She enjoys playing with her siblings, has a fantastic sense of humour & loves joining in all activities integral to family life. She enjoys being out in the community, therefore a full clean driving licence is essential.
About the role
As a female support worker you will meet all our client’s care needs including; ensuring her comfort at all times, medication, preparing blended diet, implementing therapy from her Therapy team, such as speech & language therapy, providing personal care & keeping accurate care records.
Support will be given within the family home, as part of a large team of support workers. The team provide care 7 nights a week, after school hours, at weekends & during school holidays.
Her parents enjoy spending quality one-to-one time with our client during this time you will support her siblings. Some support workers will provide extensive support to the family whilst away on holidays.
Essential :
- Full clean driving licence
- Documentation for travel both within the UK and abroad
- Able to carry out care & outdoor activities
- Experience of working with children with complex needs
- Excellent communication, social skills, patience & tolerance
- Excellent spoken English in order to assist with speech and language therapy tasks.
- Good sense of humour, trustworthy, organised with excellent timekeeping
Satisfactory references, right to work in the UK & Enhanced DBS certificate is a requirement for this role. A conviction will not necessarily prevent you from working in this position.
