This company is a UK based manufacturer of quality engineering solutions including lighting columns and brackets, traffic bollards and street scene furniture. They are committed to designing and manufacturing practical and high quality engineering solutions that work in the real world. They design quality products that are easy to install and provide a long trouble free service life, and of course, meet all relevant safety and product standards.

Due to continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced Buyer with a background of purchasing electronic and mechanical components within a busy manufacturing environment following the retirement of their current buyer.

As the Buyer, you will be responsible for the procurement of goods and services at the best possible prices the correct quantity and best quality in the delivery window to meet the factory’s production schedule.

Buyer Requirements:

- Purchasing experience within an engineering environment.
- Experience in purchasing electronic, mechanical components and consumables.
- Experience in forecasting and collaborative planning with suppliers.
MRP/ERP experience
- Buyer Responsibilities:
- Responsible for management of suppliers, ensuring that materials meet quality and specification.
- Raise purchase orders in line with MRP and PO systems requirements
- Negotiation of contracts to secure materials and obtain best-cost opportunities based on long term agreements and fixed pricing.
- Develop sourcing strategies that will give the business benefits in direct or indirect cost reduction and material availability.
- Monitor and act on supplier performance measures, bringing in new measures where required
- Work with the Engineering/Production teams to reduce costs and lead times.
- Support new product introductions and support on design changes with suppliers.

Experience:

You must have previous buying / procurement / purchasing experience. You must be from an engineering/technical background as will need to understand technical products and materials. A CIPS qualification is highly desirable but not essential.

Additional Information*

- Hours are Monday to Friday 08.00 – 16.30 with a 1/2 hour lunch break.
- Free parking.

- Salary: £27,000.00 to £32,000.00 dependent on experience
