Accounts Assistant

This printing company is looking for a special person who loves getting stuck in to Payroll and Accounts work and is keen to be part of a small team of 4 people who look after the Accounts and Finance function.

The successful candidate is likely to have experience of running a weekly payroll of 70 or so employees - some of whom have fairly complex Contract terms and conditions - and can converse fluently about all things payroll. The main duties of this part of the post are:

- Processing Payroll
- Payroll queries
- Answering telephone calls
- Payroll database mainenance
- General administration
- Checking holiday pay, sick pay and other payments, including non-taxable payments
- Processing statutory forms (P45/P46/P60/Court Orders/Student Loans/Pensions)
- Processing Temporary Labour submissions

In addition, you are likely to have worked in an Accounts Office carrying out Purchase Ledger functions and data entry (3-400 invoices per month) and will be conversant with invoice authorization, statement reconciliations, payment procedures and month end routines.

As part of the Admin team you will also need to be able to meet and greet visitors, provide refreshments and answer incoming telephone calls in the absence of the Receptionist.

A good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Access would also be a good support for our consideration of your application as would a good attitude to new software and being confident with new technology.

There will be future opportunities to learn the job roles of colleagues to cover in the event of their absence and generally progress your career in areas such as Sales Ledger, Credit Control, Cash Book, General Ledger etc. and to assist in the automation of new areas of processing documentation to further enhance the Finance function.

Full training will be given to the successful applicant in the use of their integrated Management Information Systems (Technique SQL) and Payroll software (Sage).

Candidates will be required to have at least Grade C GCSE Maths and English, preferably also with A level Maths and or English or an equivalent qualification.

You will be responsible to and report to the Financial Controller and ultimately the Finance Director.
