This leading specialist in the design and manufacture of Mechanical Seals and Support Systems now has a vacancy for a Workshop / Technical Engineering Apprentice to carry out workshop tasks such as repair, assembly, testing and stock control to facilitate the sale of mechanical seals.

Principal Accountabilities
Product Repair
- Analysis of used products to determine which components need replacing and which can be repaired.
- Refurbish used products to an as new condition.
- The use of equipment such as bead blaster, buffer and lapping machines.

Product Assembly and Testing
- Picking and building of components into finished assemblies.
- Excellent attention to detail required ensuring products are built correctly as per works orders.
- Pressure testing of assemblies to company standards to ensure product quality.

Stock Control
- Checking and bringing into stock goods received.
- The use of various computer databases and storage carousels to store and locate components.

Continuous Improvement
- Become involved in various projects such as improving products, working methods and developing test equipment.
- Possible development of role to encompass design and technical responsibilities.

Training
- Appropriate training will be given to develop the successful candidate into a product expert and valuable member of staff.

It is essential to have:
1) A minimum of 4 GCSE's or equivalent, including English, Mathematics and a science related subject. It would be desirable, but not essential, to have A-Levels or equivalent in engineering or a science related subject.
2) A willingness to continue with part time further education such as NVQ and HNC qualifications in engineering
3) A strong interest in engineering through school or as a hobby

You must be an effective communicator with excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of a team.
