This company is a small team of like-minded individuals located in the countryside between Redditch and Worcester. They have a varied portfolio of clients with differing needs. Their work spans small, brochure style sites to full-blown, business critical applications.

They are looking for a PHP Developer responsible for managing back-end services and the interchange of data between the server and the users. Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of databases, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. You will also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements built by your co-workers into the application. Therefore, a basic understanding of front-end technologies is necessary as well.

This position would suit graduate to intermediate developers and you need to be able to manage your own workload. Competitive salary, based on experience and flexible working arrangements in a relaxed environment.

Responsibilities:

- Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end designers
- Build efficient, testable, and reusable PHP modules
- Solve complex performance problems and architectural challenges
- Integration of data storage solutions
- Communicating with clients
- Managing version control using Sourcetree and Git

Skills & Qualifications:

- Strong knowledge of PHP web frameworks such as Yii and Codeigniter
- Understanding the fully synchronous behaviour of PHP
- Understanding of MVC design patterns
- Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Knowledge of object oriented PHP programming
- Strong knowledge of the common PHP or web server exploits and their solutions
- Understanding fundamental design principles behind a s calable application
- Familiarity with limitations of PHP as a platform and its workarounds
- Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
- Familiarity with SQL/MySQL databases and their declarative query languages
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git

Essentials:

- Understanding of the principles of developing and writing for the web
- Proven track record in web development
- Communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to nontechnical colleagues
- Ability to support and maintain existing projects
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, manage changing priorities and capable of keeping skills up to date
- Experience in developing in PHP
- Experience in using web technologies, HTML, CSS
- Experience in using and developing relational database driven systems (preferably MySQL Server)
- Experience of using and working with JavaScript and jQuery
- Knowledge of MVC development
- Experience in the use of Content Management Systems
