A company based in Cheshire is seeking a dynamic and experienced vehicle fleet manager to assist in the overall strategic Fleet Management of a growing operation circa 900 diverse fleet of vehicles.

Main Responsibilities:

- Renewing and purchasing of vehicles within the company fleet, maintain and enforce standards throughout.
- Undertake periodic audits on transport compliance.
- Building and maintaining relationships with manufacturers and key suppliers to negotiate on the most cost effective strategy for purchasing vehicles.
- De-fleeting vehicles at appropriate time in line with set procedures.
- Contribute to the development of a centralised fleet procurement policy to enhance and optimise value for money.
- Regularly reviewing the condition of the vehicles within the fleet.
- Ensure vehicles are insured; MOT; taxed and have the most up to date vehicle service record.
- Producing reports on vehicle usage, mileage and maintenance costs.
- To assist in the compilation of regular leasing reports which are reviewed by the Managing Director and Stakeholders.
- Possess negotiation skills in order to implement changes to the vehicle conditions.

Knowledge and Skills

In order to fulfil the requirements of the role, the successful candidate will need the following:
- Experience of managing a fleet of in excess of 900 vehicles is essential.
- A vast amount of knowledge of diverse and complex vehicle types.
- Experience of effectively monitoring quality, performance and value for money.
- Ability to compile reports to key stakeholders.
- Experience of implementing, monitoring, reviewing and where necessary enforcing policy to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and report changes in legislation.
- Experience in guiding and influencing the key stakeholders with the fundamental decisions that will impact on the overall improvement and development of the fleet.
- Sound and thorough knowledge of vehicle ‘know how’.
- An ability to keep regularly updated on changes in legislation.
- Must have good communication skills and good negotiation skills.
- Ability to budget and plan.
- Ability to work towards strict targets and deadlines.
- Competent at using Microsoft packages.
