Mechanic/Fitter/Engineer Trainee - Access Plant

They are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic trainee access plant mechanic/fitter/engineer to work at their Erith depot as part of a well-established family owned business. They specialise in Truck Mounted Platforms, supply the full range of scissor lifts along with an extensive range of self-propelled booms all of which are carefully chosen in order to give their clients the most appropriate machine to meet their needs.

They pride themselves that they give 100% commitment to all their customers and offer a warm and friendly one to one service and are able to provide coverage for any type of access equipment required and are also registered IPAF/PASMA training centre.

Job purpose

The main purpose of this role is to service, repair and pre-delivery check their fleet of powered access equipment. This challenging position ideally requires someone with foundation knowledge of either mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems. Full on the job training will be given by the team of time served and experienced access engineers.

This position would suit a college leaver with an NVQ/BTEC in Vehicle Maintenance, Mechanics or Vehicle Technician with the enthusiasm and ability to apply their knowledge across to Cherry Pickers, Scissor lifts, Booms, Mobile elevated work platforms and Powered access equipment.

Experience with Plant machinery is not required, just an individual who is mechanically minded with a strong work ethic.

Job Description

A varied role involving the following:

1. Maintaining Servicing and cleaning of Multi Elevated Work Platforms and Access machinery
2. Identify faults and complete minor repairs
3. Use of a tablet to manage the processing of vehicles and equipment and to record findings
4. Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI) of plant/access machines at the depot

The person:

- You will need to be self-motivated and enthusiastic and enjoy working in a fast moving environment.
- You must have good communication and organisational skills and have an interest in machinery and mechanics.
- A previous workshop background would be an advantage but not essential
- This position would suit someone who has plenty of energy and drive and enjoys working with a variety of people
- The role may require some heavy lifting
- Head for heights is essential
- Driving Licence and Own Transport is essential due to location of the depot

Working hours - 45 hours per week Monday – Friday
On-call - There will be a requirement to be part of an On-call rota once trained – additional remuneration will apply.
