The opportunity
They are looking for an experienced Traffic Controller to plan, organise and assist in managing the daily work of the collection drivers and associated system data input. You will provide other general support to the Service Manager as required on a day to day basis and ensure all tasks are completed in line with the companies Health and Safety Policy.

The responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and welfare of all personnel within your area of responsibility.
- To interpret and enforce as far as is reasonably practicable legislation relating to the road traffic acts
- To be responsible for the day to day activities of approximately 35 drivers
- Prioritising work schedules to maximise efficient work.
- Passing details to the Service Administrator to ensure purchase orders are raised for extra work
- Ensure vehicle defecting procedures are adhered to in accordance with their operator’s licence and audit requirements
- Enforce standards of discipline and control, conduct annual driver appraisals, assist with induction of new drivers
- Control of overtime
- Ensure all customer enquiries are responded to
- Proactively look into missed collections and resolve any issues
- Respond to and log any customer complaints, and resolve in a timely manner
- Conduct thorough route de brief for each route on a daily basis
- Investigation interviews for any potential disciplinary hearings
- Carry out site surveys
- Ensure drivers carry out their pre and post shift vehicle checks

Experience required
- Experience in a similar job role
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- A commercially minded individual with excellent negotiation skills
- Experience working with Microsoft Excel
