This privately-owned company designs and manufactures exhaust and emission control systems for heavy duty diesel vehicles and equipment. The position involves filling out and reviewing of preventative maintenance tooling sheets, maintaining manufacturing tooling and producing tooling for use in prototype assemblies and product manufacture. This role will require basic tooling design, precision machining, and tooling assembly work.

Responsibilities:
- Manufacturing parts for tools, jigs and fixtures to fine tolerances from drawings, sketches and verbal instructions
- Assisting in solving development problems
- Assembling and testing new tooling
- Writing operational instructions for new tooling
- Recording results of new tooling and proposing improvements as required
- Repairing, remaking and enhancing existing tooling
- Maintaining housekeeping standards within the Engineering Workshop
- Involvement with development process and assisting other members of the team to acquire machining skills
- As their employee you will ensure that all environmental, health and safety requirements are met.

Person Specification:
Education and Qualifications:
- A good standard of education.
- Time served recognised apprenticeship in machining (with emphasis on toolmaking)
- Ability to do accurate engineering calculations

Previous Experience:
- 5 years experience of making tools, jigs and fixtures
- Ability to operate conventional machine tools
- Sound comprehension of engineering drawings
- Ability to visualise how components will function in an assembly
- CNC machining, mechanical fitting and sheet metal experience will be an advantage
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office will be an advantage
- A working knowledge of CAD systems will be on advantage
