This is an opportunity to join an innovative, highly experienced rolling stock engineering business offering a comprehensive range of maintenance, overhaul, repair and refurbishment services to the UK rail sector. Their focus is primarily on passenger trains and specialist infrastructure vehicles offering pragmatic, cost-effective turnkey design solutions where necessary.

They have worked hard over the last few years to see the company more than double in size to over 80 employees at their premises in central Kilmarnock which houses a 4-road, 14-vehicle capacity workshop.

Much of the work they do involves extensive safety critical activity. ensuring compliance with rail industry standards is essential, requiring the implementation and maintenance of all necessary processes and competencies.

They are now looking to strengthen their electrical team with experienced Test Technicians to enable the repair and fault finding on rolling-stock to ensure that they provide their customers with a reliable, safe and defect free train.

About the role…..
This is a key role and in return for a very competitive salary they are looking for people who have the following experience

- Electrical testing, fault-finding and diagnosis of rail vehicles and rolling stock
- Interpretation of electrical schematics and engineering drawings / specifications and understanding the work instructions arising.
- The ability to examine, test and repair wiring looms and cables
- Responsible for the on-going job integrity and fault rectification arising from vehicle tests.
- Maintenance of test logs and customer documentation and writing electrical test reports

About you………
- A minimum of S/NVQ /C&G Level 3 with associated recognised apprenticeship papers available.
- Come from a certified electrical testing background, preferably gained in the rail industry, or alternatively experience in heavy engineering, automotive or aerospace industries.
- Familiarity with TPWS, AWS and TCA would be an advantage
- A self starter - able to work on own initiative
- A keen attention to detail with good problem solving skills
- Able to work in a fast paced, busy environment with multiple projects
- Good communication skills – able to discuss testing outcomes with both customers and workshop teams

Please note that all candidates must be willing to undergo medical testing / drugs and alcohol screening.
