Support Workers/Mother’s Help Role Overview:
This leading Nationwide provider of case management & rehabilitation services requires Support Workers/ Mother’s Help to support their client, a bright eight year old boy who suffered illness in early life resulting in an acquired brain injury.

He is lively & creative and is constantly on the go, not concentrating on any one thing for long. He has some difficulty communicating and occasionally becomes frustrated, which can result in some challenging behaviour. He attends a school for children with additional needs 5 days a week. He lives in the family home in the Wirral, Merseyside, therefore the role will involve working in a family environment.

Hours:
Approximately 23 hours per week to be worked: 3.30pm – 7.00pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and 8.30am – 5.30pm Saturday, with additional hours (10.00am – 3:30pm) during school holidays and occasional overnight respite care. These hours could be shared by more than one Support Worker.

Role:
This role is to provide help to our Client’s parents with the care of their two sons and support them with every day family life e.g. help with after school routines to enable the Client to access play, learning and social activities. You will also promote wellbeing and independence under the guidance of his parents and professionals.

Attributes:
- Experience of working in a caring role/aptitude and desire to work with children with special needs desirable; but personality, good sense of humour, ability to work flexibly, and under own initiative are qualities most desired.
- Confident working in client’s own home and sensitive to the needs & wishes of the parents and awareness of confidentiality
- *Physically fit – Some of the activities with the client care may require you to be agile & mobile
- Able to drive and have a full, driving licence or willing to work towards
- Good standard of education inc. a minimum of English & Maths GCSE/equivalent
- Good written & spoken English to help with speech & language therapy
- Basic I.T. skills/aptitude to work with communication aids; training to be given as required
- Cheerful and caring with a positive attitude & encouraging approach
- Non-smoker, this role operates in a non-smoking environment

Remuneration:
£9.00 per hour Monday – Saturday, 7.00am – 8.00pm; £10 per hour Sunday and after 8pm Monday – Saturday and National Minimum/Living Wage Monday – Sunday sleeping nights. Ongoing training & support provided. Free DBS check.
