Visually Impaired Individual looking for a Support Worker/PA to help them in their administration of the business and help get them to their appointments on time. The Individual is self-employed and conducts Independent Assessments, and also tutors people (individuals and groups) with disabilities to use technology.
The Individual frequently travels to homes, organisations or businesses throughout the South East – on public transport or by car.
The hours will vary – usually from 35 but up to a maximum of 40 hours per week, with the occasional long day for further travels. Mostly weekdays with an occasional weekends depending on needs.
The ideal profile would be for a driver with their own car, smartly dressed when necessary, with an ability to understand and help with technology – phones, PCs, tablets etc. However, an adaptable approach and ability and willingness to learn are by far the most important characteristics.
The main tasks will include:
- Plan and execute travel arrangements to work or
gadget shows etc.
- Guide where and when needed
- Accompany home after dark
- Support during lessons or assessments e.g. reading device screens, where necessary
- Look up information or advice during lessons
- Take notes during lessons or assessments
- Set up students’ accounts online during lessons
- Read, or scan in documents with small print
- Summarise information, letters, notes etc. electronically
- Enter receipts on to spreadsheets
The pay is £17 per hour – which is unfortunately non-negotiable as it is grant funded. You will be paid for your travel time whenever The Individual is with you, but will have to cover own travel costs.
