We require Support Workers to work with adults with learning difficulties in established, friendly residential care homes in Reading. Your role would be to support their lifestyle and help them engage in varied community based activities.

Main duties include:
- To assist service users as required with personal care needs
- To assist with general household tasks including laundry, general cleaning, preparing meals and drinks.
- Dispense medication
- Ensure a safe, comfortable, and supportive home is provided and which complies with all legislation.
- Promote independence and choice empowering the individual to contribute to the running of the home.
- Support individuals with activities including recreational and social pursuits which they engage in both in and outside the home, encouraging them to live a fulfilled and purposeful life.
- Ensure the individuals rights are always respected and protected and be committed to a person-centred approach

Requirements for the post
- Good general education with literacy and numeric skills
- Previous support worker experience preferred but not essential as full training given
- Able to work as part of a team
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively
- Understand the need for confidentiality
- Able to use initiative and a commitment to delivering high quality support to our residents
- To be reliable, have a genuine interest in the area, be keen to learn and undertake training
- To be committed to supporting individuals with complex behaviours which can be challenging on occasion
DBS disclosure required

Hours
Full-time and part-time days available working a shift/rota pattern
Starting salary of £7.50 per hour which increases to £8.02 per hour after successful completion of probationary period. This will also include a DBS check, MAPA training and induction training.
