Support Worker/Buddy
Weekday early evenings/evenings/weekends & school holidays

Location:
Trowbridge, Wiltshire.

Hours:
Up to 12 hours per week to be worked flexibly; covering Weekday early evenings/ evenings/ weekends & school holidays. Additional hours maybe required.

Support Worker/Buddy Role Overview:

This leading Nationwide provider of case management and rehabilitation services require a Support Worker/Buddy to support their client, an 18-year-old young man with complex needs including brain injury, developmental delay and severe visual impairment.
He requires assistance in carrying out evening, social and music related activities outside of school. He also requires support to engage in rehabilitation programs as directed by rehabilitation professionals involved in his care. The work will be varied and will involve participating in a range of activities with the client both at home and out in the community. The support worker is expected to work cooperatively with the client’s family and the Case Manager to offer him the best opportunity to fulfil his potential.

Experience with working with young people with special needs desirable, but personality, a good sense of humour, ability to work flexibly, and under own initiative are the qualities most desired.

Support Worker/Buddy Attributes:
- Experience of working in a health care setting & genuine interest in delivery of health care to the community
- A full driving licence required & willingness to use own car for work
- Good verbal & written communication skills
- Team player and understanding of importance of feedback to qualified members of the team
- Ability to learn new skills
- Excellent numeracy and literacy
- Good sense of humour and interpersonal skills with proactive & encouraging approach
- Punctuality
- Patient, reliable and trustworthy
- Understanding of confidentiality
- Able to think creatively and to use initiative
- An interest in music and willingness to engage in musical events, performing arts and related activities
- Ability to work evenings and weekends & willingness to work flexibly

Remuneration:
£9.00 - £14.00 per hour dependent on level of experience & qualifications. Ongoing training & support provided. Free DBS check.
