Part-Time (Afternoons & Evenings) Support Worker required for 12 Month Fixed Term Contract.
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Hours:
2 evening shifts, 4.00pm to 10.00pm Monday and Wednesday per week with Fridays 3:30pm – 10pm during term time only. Additional hours available in term time and during the school holidays.
Support Worker Role Overview:
This leading Nationwide provider of case management and rehabilitation services requires a Support Worker to support our client, a teenage boy with physical & learning difficulties. He lives with his mother, his mothers’ partner and sister in a purpose built house which includes carers’ accommodation (bedroom /bathroom/ kitchenette). Our Client needs help with all areas of daily living. He enjoys playing in his home which is equipped with a ‘multi sensory’ room and other specialist play equipment. He likes to get out in the community and enjoys weekly hydrotherapy sessions. Our Client attends a local special school full time (during term time). The family have a dog and a cat.
Support Worker Attributes:
*Physically Fit, for moving & handling purposes.
Experience of working with children/adults with special needs preferred but enthusiasm, patience and willingness to learn is desirable.
Confident about working in a family home; sensitive to the needs and wishes of the client and his family; able to demonstrate the need for confidentiality & privacy, reliable and trustworthy.
Being able to be proactive, encouraging, creative and having a good sense of humour are all important.
A full driving license (endorsements to be disclosed) and willing to drive the clients adapted vehicle.
Non Smoker – this post operates in a non-smoking environment.
Remuneration:
From £9.50 per hour, Monday – Friday and £10.50 per hour, Weekends, depending on experience. Ongoing training and support provided. Free DBS check.
