This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, fast growing company. They are currently seeking an experienced Supply Chain Project Buyer to further strengthen their growing team based in Barnsley.
You will work closely with the Engineering, Design & Development, Quality and Production departments to facilitate New Product Introduction, engineering modification and supplier re-sourcing activities.
You will be responsible for Implementing the material and supplier procurement strategy for new projects, purchasing administration, maintaining accuracy of information and ensuring that parts are sourced cost-effectively and that sourcing decisions, commercial terms and supplier capabilities.
It is essential that you have:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a progressive engineering / manufacturing (ideally automotive) environment, utilising a world-wide supply base
- Experience of metal mechanical components
- Experience in a project team environment; a team-player with good inter-personal skills
- A proven track record in cost negotiation and cost analysis techniques
- Strong persuasion and influencing skills, with excellent communication abilities
- A proven track record of supply chain management and the ability to question the status quo and suggest improvements
- Computer literate, including good MS Office experience
- It is essential that you have the right to live and work within the UK without restriction
Desirable
- Working towards CIPS or equivalent
- Industry / product knowledge
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques
- Second language skills
