Reports to: Board of Directors
Hours: Full Time, 45 hrs per week
Holiday: 28 days including public holidays
Salary: £50,000-£70,000 depending on experience plus bonus scheme
Probation: Six months

This company is a leading player in the wood flooring specification industry.

Position overview

Based in the Carnforth, Lancashire office, supported by the management team, and reporting to the Managing Director, you will have overall responsibility for the purchasing and product development of the company, and responsible for ensuring the supply chain is sufficient to support aggressive global sales growth strategies.

Qualifications and Experience
- At least three years’ experience in a similar role.
- Background in flooring or construction advantageous but not essential.
- Proven track record in delivering on supply chain and product development global strategies.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Supplier relationship management (around 25 active suppliers)
- Supplier visits (travelling up to 3 times a month mainly in Europe but could include further afield)
- Supplier Contracts
- Supplier Rebate Scheme
- Responsible to support other departments at all times
- Responsible to chair the following meetings;
o Weekly purchasing meetings
o Monthly Staff 1-2-1’s
o Monthly purchasing/operations meetings
o Monthly purchasing/transport meetings
o Monthly product development meetings with the sales managers
o Key supplier meetings as required (approx. 1 per week)
o Weekly quality control meetings
- Quarterly sustainability meetings
- Management of the purchasing team (5 persons)
- Responsible for £30million + of purchasing
- Responsible for maintaining stock levels in 2 of our 3 distribution hubs – UK and NA
- Handling over 300 live enquiries for ‘special’ products
- Responsible to maintain and increase awareness of certified products with ‘green’ credentials
- Ensure products are tested to the required global standards
- Ensure product data is accurate and available
- Ensure product faults are reported to the relevant suppliers and required support is given from the supplier
- Development of new products (0 – 30 new products every quarter).

This involves management of the full process from concept to launch ensuring all pre-launch requirements are met and sufficient collaboration with sales and marketing is maintained.
