Due to ongoing expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a customer facing Strategic IT advisor (a.k.a virtual IT Director) to join a highly motivated and dynamic team in a long-standing and rapidly expanding IT support & services company based in Frome, Somerset.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a team of in house solutions experts and key client stakeholders on a daily basis, evaluating IT infrastructure, identifying risk, researching and presenting IT solutions to bring business benefits and growth.
The successful applicant will act as an outsourced “Virtual” IT Director, assisting heads of the client’s business in delivering key information systems. A desire and excitement to learn and understand a vast array of business types, requirements and technologies is key.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all technology operations (e.g. network security) and evaluate them according to established procedure and tool sets.
- Devise and establish information policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by their clients' senior management
- Analyse the business requirements of all departments and overall businesses to determine their information technology needs
- Make efficient and cost-effective technological proposals for infrastructure and software platform adoption
- Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency
- Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems
- Act as the senior account contact for the client within the business and take full accountability for service and solutions delivered to the client
- Develop, present, and control client information technology budget
- Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient solutions
To qualify:
- Proven experience as IT manager, 3rd line engineer or similar role (5+ years)
- You will have proven problem solving and analytical skills
- Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
- Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of information systems and their specifications
- Experience in controlling information technology budget
- Strong communication skills and an ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical end users in simple terms
- Able to identify and interpret business needs and requirements
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- BSc/BA in computer science, engineering or relevant field; MSc/MA will be a plus
