This award-winning family owned and run business supplies / manufactures and Installs machines and solutions mostly for Schools Woodworking, Metalworking and Technology workshops.

They require a Buyer of strategic nature to help them with their current materials and products but also to source new products and innovations for the educational market place.

The Role:

- Reporting directly to the MD, you will have full responsibility for the purchasing function within the company which includes, though not limited to, procurement of Materials, Planning and Installation Logistics functions of companywide purchasing with efficiencies built into agreed KPI’s.
- Have a full understanding of the forecasting
- Formulate and standardise processes.
- Proactively manage and develop the supply chain in line to KPI's (manage the invitation to tender process, conduct negotiations, supplier assessments, approval and maintenance etc.)
- Forecast price trends and their impact on future activities in line with budgets.
- Research and develop new supply sources and products.
- Raising of Works Orders for Production
- Develop continuous cost reduction initiatives.
- Keep customers, both internal and external, informed of product changes due to unavailability / line changes.
- Develop SLA’s to define strategic stock holding to buffer supply chain demand variability.
- Ensure constructive engagement with respective stakeholders, using both initiative and influence, to seek opportunity across the business that adds value to both the business and its customers
- Attend Trade shows and relevant events to both research and source new suppliers while promoting the company on a partnership level to prospective suppliers and manufacturers.
- Cash flow will require input for balancing from the buyer to forecast spend and liaise with suppliers building a flexible relationship to support the business’s needs.
- Maintenance and administration of all the product database contents including prices, BOM's USP details, product adjustments, pictures, customer price lists, reseller discounts, codes, associated products and packing etc… and Inventory control and management and operation.
- Arrange and directly assist in the logistics to customer and from suppliers

Qualifications and Experience Desired:

- A strong academic, degree qualified or equivalent time served.
- Ideally qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) and / or Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport or working towards it
- A working knowledge of MRP is essential.
- Experience of logistics, demand analysis, forward planning, forecasting techniques and inventory management
- Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures and the ability to present data to senior staff.
- Computer literate.
