A great opportunity to practice your DBA skills in a leading UK education company. The ideal candidate will have both breadth and depth in managing DBMS, as well as strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop existing DBA skillsets across MS SQL, Oracle SQL and MySQL database platforms.

The role encompasses all aspects of database administration, planning and maintenance. Additionally, the DBA will manage database capacity planning, monitoring, reviewing and providing advice to developers on scripts, data conversion, user access management and data uploads. You will be joining a talented IT team in an outcome focused and flexible working environment. The position is home based in the UK but with frequent travel to London.

The DBA will:
- Own and manage the performance and reliability of the company’s database
- Own and manage scheduled database jobs and ad hoc scripting
- Participate in technology and business projects and lead on all database components for projects
- Work with architects/DBAs to ensure that all database designs are optimised and efficient
- Ensure quality of applications in terms of performance, integration integrity and data quality
- Diagnose, analyse and rectify client software database problems
- Create sanitised data sets for use in development and testing functions
- Execute one off data migration jobs and scripts as required
- Perform functional testing on new/upgraded databases
- Engage with vendors in testing new releases to database software
- Assist the infrastructure team in sizing hardware used for database software
- Manage Oracle Data warehouse with some PL/SQL development

Requirements
Ideally you must have: -
- Extensive experience working as a database administrator in a corporate environment
- Excellent skills with Microsoft SQL (2008/16) and Oracle SQL (8i/10g,11g)
- DDL Scripting
- Oracle ASM
- PL/SQL
- Intermediate level experience of MySQL
- Capacity planning and database performance tuning/optimisation
- Microsoft DBA and/or Oracle DBA qualification
- Exposure to IT frameworks such as ITIL

Ideally you would have: -
- Experience in working on data conversions between database platforms
- Preferably some experience working with PowerBI and SAS or similar reporting platforms
- Ideally some exposure to Oracle extent management (Oracle 8 skill)
- ITIL certification
