This independent software company based in central Bristol is looking to recruit a Software Tester.

Description of Post:
In this role you will work within the Testing function of the R&D Team, using the Agile methodology to carry out the work needed to contribute to the overall strategy of the R&D team.

You will engage with other members of the Development team on projects to develop and run test scripts to Qualitatively Analyse new releases of the software and additional functionality, balancing ad hoc requests with on-going long term projects.

Main Responsibilities are:
- Plan, design and execute manual test cases on test databases based on software requirements
- Detect, report and track software defects through to resolution
- Review test specifications, problem reports and test results with a view to continually improving the testing process.
- Communicate test progress, test results and constructive feedback in order to improve quality of software product
- Work with Projects Team to create UAT specifications.
- Regularly participate in Sprint Planning and Review meetings and daily stand ups
- Researching and testing possibilities of Iken software integration with other software products.
- Handover tested applications to the project and support teams.

Outcomes of the Role include:
- Design and preparation of detailed test plans and scripts for functional, system and regression testing
- Take responsibility for own assigned deliverables ensuring their successful completion to a high standard
- New software releases and additional functionality features are fully tested and passed before being released for office testing/to clients.
- Unexpected results from testing procedures are recorded and fed back into the Sprint Review and Planning meetings
- Test specifications used are constantly review and revised according to need with contributions being made to best testing practice and business process definitions.
- Knowledge and skills shared with other teams in the business to provide a robust software product for clients
- CTO and Development Team Leader are kept up to date with new software release which may be of interest to the business.

Skills Required for the Role:
- Creatively minded with systematic and organized approach to work
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Logical and analytical approach to problem solving with a keen desire to resolve problems
- Knowledge and understanding of the full development lifecycle, software release processes and defect management
- Testing within the Microsoft development stack
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Thorough attention to detail
- Keen to learn with proactive initiative to improve processes and procedures
- Use of automated test tools e.g. Ranorex (Desirable)
