A Software Support Technician is required to join a leading supplier of interactive public information systems working closely with Local Authorities all over the UK. They are in the process of expanding their operation and have a vacancy for a Software Support Technician. Working from their Ashby-de-la-Zouch offices and reporting to the National Service Manager, the position will involve working in a close knit team engaged in the support of applications and maintenance of existing systems.

Roles and responsibilities are:
- To provide 1st and 2nd line software support to customers and other departments.
- To provide analytical support to developers and other departments.
- Continuous improvement of the quality of software support services.
- Performing studies on data to highlight patterns and errors.
- Support existing systems.
- Take ownership of issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Provide timely progress updates to customers and management.
- Assisting in software testing as required
- Fix any serious anomalies within own work regardless of other commitments.
- Perform ad-hoc duties as required by management.

Essential skills required for this role are:
- A close attention to detail
- An ability to work unsupervised, under pressure
- To be able to accurately prioritise workload.
- Strong oral and written English skills
- Excellent customer relationship skills
- A proactive attitude towards your work.
- Good knowledge of networking (IP, Ports, DNS, DHCP, Etc.)
- Good understanding of Microsoft Windows XP, 7, 10 and its features
- Experience in remote management using RDP, VNC, TeamViewer

Desirable skills required for this role are:
- A minimum of 12 months in a computing support role.
- A good understanding of IT software and hardware systems
- Familiarity with Microsoft operating systems, from Windows 2000 to Windows 10
- A good understanding of computer networking.
- Experience working with a support ticketing system.
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012 – Had experience in using
- Microsoft SQL 2008, 2012, 2014 – Had experience in using

To integrate into the company resource structure, the successful candidate may also be required to:
- Carry out housekeeping tasks on IT infrastructure
- Participate in occasional weekend system monitoring work.
- Participate in a weekday rota system.
