A family run business that has 30 year’s experience supporting adults with Learning Difficulties. They are looking for someone with a friendly and approachable manner and with good communication skills, to join their vibrant and passionate team; who can support with maintenance across their three care homes and main office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Repair and general maintenance work of facilities, buildings, grounds and equipment at various sites including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, glazier and painting tasks
- Repairing and treating structures such as showers, floors, sinks, walls, carpets and lighting
- Assembling flat packs, fitting radiator covers and other similar items
- Minor plumbing
- Moving and handling of equipment and furniture in the homes
- Maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the work areas of the units
- Ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of all areas
- Reporting defects, malfunctions, damages of the units to the office and line manager
- Clearing guttering and drains
- Clearing blockages (toilets, sinks & drains etc)
- Repairing hinges, fire doors and ensuring they comply with the relevant fire policy
- Moving and assisting in transportation of furniture and equipment to other premises or for disposal
- Responding to maintenance requests given by The Office, managers and Line Manager
- Effectively complete all jobs assigned
- Ensure that the equipment is cleaned after use, and remains in good working order and equipment is stored in the appropriate place
- From time to time assistance with gardening and outdoor maintenance may be required

Skills and Specifications:
- Ability to use efficiently various power and hand tools
- Communicate efficiently and fluently in both written and oral form
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
- Effectively manage time, meet deadlines and coordinate work functions with fellow workers
- Ability to identify defects in equipment and report any such defects to your line manager
- Valid driving licence (essential)
- To complete any relevant paperwork to a high standard

General comments:
In the event of an emergency, it may be necessary to attend and assist on site on public holidays and weekends if the event arises, so successful candidates might need to allow some flexibility for this.

This role profile is not exhaustive; it will be subject to periodic review and may be amended to meet the changing needs of the business. The post holder will be expected to participate in this process and they would aim to reach agreement to the changes.

Full enhanced DBS check will be required.
