To lead and support the production team in all aspects of yarn production.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

Production
- The planning and managing of the shift and ancillary activities of departments in fulfilling the production volume requirements set by the Production Manager in line with the production plans.
- Leading the team and carrying out reviews in line with al HR policies and procedures.
- Working with the Quality Team and others within the business to ensure that any quality issues are reviewed and addressed to meet the specifications and quality standards.
- Examining daily with the Engineers concerned any instance of performance below standard and idle time in the previous day and making the necessary corrections to prevent recurrence.
- Recommending to the assistant any improvements which are felt could be made to the method of working.
- Ensuring that the department keeps the production control procedures operating smoothly and correctly
- Completing the production returns (e.g. quality, production and wages)
- Regular meetings with shift supervisors, hand over shift.
- Apply the company’s health and safety policy as relevant to the department and consulting with the safety advisor with regard to any issues.

Knowledge and aptitudes required:

- A basic practical and technical knowledge of general woolen yarn manufacture is desirable.
- A sound technical and practical knowledge of the processes is essential.
- A good general education (literacy and numeracy) is essential.
- Further education qualifications will be an advantage
- IOSH Qualified
- Previous experience in supervision of personnel is desirable.

Personal Competencies:
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Methodical and organised demonstrating time management skills
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines

Additional Requirements:
- Full, clean driving licence (Desirable)
- Good colour acuity / recognition
- Ability to perform manual handling
