This employee owned business providing engineering, design, analysis, project expertise and specialist handling and access equipment to international marine, offshore, subsea and renewable energy markets. It serves a broad range of clients that includes oil and gas operators, drilling companies, specialist vessel operators and public-sector bodies.

The post-holder will work as part of a multi-disciplined team on an extensive range of Offshore, Merchant and Military vessels together with numerous offshore installations. Core responsibilities will be to support commissioning activities during equipment commissioning and provide through life in-service support to our clients’ vessels and offshore platforms.

The position will require extensive travel in the UK and overseas. There may be a requirement for temporary short secondment between its offices in Portsmouth, London and Aberdeen.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Undertaking equipment surveys and assessments, providing detailed written survey and site reports.
- Fault diagnosis and repair of marine equipment incorporating hydraulic systems and electrical systems with PLC control.
- Servicing activities and through life support of offshore equipment.
- On board client vessel/platform tasking including equipment operation, maintenance and repairs.
- Assisting clients with technical support enquiries and spares support.
- Installation and commissioning engineering activities both in a factory environment and on clients’ vessels and offshore platforms.
- Assisting with the compilation of technical manuals, test procedures and commissioning documentation.
- Training clients' operators and maintainers.
- Providing support to the company's Project Managers and Equipment Design Engineers.

Skills required:

- The applicant will be expected to be medically fit to obtain an offshore survival certificate (ideally will already have this qualification).
- Physically fit as certain worksites activities are physically demanding.
- The nature of Military contracts will require the post-holder to fulfil Ministry of Defence security clearance requirements.
- Regular user of MS Office suite or similar software and able to read and interpret technical drawings, which will include hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Great customer service skills.
- Flexible approach and ability to adapt to changes required to deliver project tasks.
- Knowledge of commissioning and troubleshooting hydraulic power units and systems & PLC-based control systems. Specifically knowledge of:
- Mitsubishi PLC’s, GXIEC developer and GT designer
- National Instruments CompactRIO and LabVIEW
- Variable speed drive technology
- Knowledge of vessel low and medium voltage power & distribution systems
- Ability to diagnose defects and effect remedial actions.
- A team player who is confident to undertake lone working at clients’ vessels.
- Good written skills to allow completion of site and survey reports.
- Clean driving licence.
