After a successful first phase of a project, many aspects of this company's web portal need to be revised in order to articulate the complex messages that are held in the rich and diverse dataset being produced by the consortium. They are looking to recruit an enthusiastic software developer who has a strong interest in developing and improving solutions for ETL, storage and processing, and/or full stack development, along with a passion for displaying complex data.
Their institute investigates a wide variety of mouse models to enhance their understanding of the molecular and genetic basis of physiology and disease. You will work within the Data Coordination Centre (DCC) for the International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (IMPC) Project. The IMPC DCC supports the informatics infrastructure pipeline that captures the data from each of the 12 contributing centres, supports the quality control and ensures the data is analysed and disseminated on the IMPC web portal.
The goal of the IMPC is to discover functional insight for every gene by generating and systematically phenotyping 20,000 knockout mouse strains. Their systematic approach to investigating the function of these genes means that they are in a position to associate their genes both to the fundamental biological function as well as likely disease candidates.
You will have:
- Computer science and/or software development training and background up to BSc/MSc level or comparable relevant experience
- Experience of project management of development teams
- Experience of a programming language in a professional environment
