Using the latest design technology for their design work, they have over 75 staff focused on providing creative and cost-effective solutions for their customers. An opportunity has now arisen for a Senior Mechanical R&D Engineer to join their team.

As a Senior R&D Engineer, you will take the lead in a team of 3, using an innovative problem-solving approach to product design, preparing concepts and prototypes to improve their current products as well as create new ones. They work in a highly regulated market so thorough attention to detail is essential as you work to obtain certification.

Your role will include:

- Research new technologies and their application.
- Identifying industry trends and new product opportunities.
- Develop and design products from market input using SolidWorks.
- Design and evaluation of prototypes.
- Preparing technical documentation.
- Obtain relevant certification to show compliance with applicable standards.
- Manage the lifecycle of a new product all the way through to production, including test plans and designing test equipment.
- Lead a small team, including planning and delivery of department tasks.
- Provide training to customers, project engineers and production as required.

For this role they are looking for a committed and hardworking individual with at least 5 years mechanical R&D experience in the manufacturing sector. A degree or equivalent work experience is also essential. This is suitable for a senior engineer who has led a team before, or is looking to take their first step into a supervisory role.

Experience in the following areas will be a distinct advantage:

- Pneumatic logic circuits
- Various manufacturing techniques including sheet metal, machining,
- Electronic control cabinets
- Hazardous Area environments (ATEX, IECEx, NFPA)
