A luxury home furnishings company are looking for an experienced senior buyer & homeware retailer.
In this role you will have the expertise in making key strategic decisions to help drive businesses forward.
You should be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the home furniture market and be highly trend driven.
A proven track record in product & departmental development skills along with a strong commercial eye & strategic planning expertise.
Key Accountabilities
- Participate in development and execute the Category Strategy as defined by the CEO.
- Devise long term strategies for product categories and be responsible for the buying, sourcing, and negotiation of product lines with new and existing vendors Worldwide.
- Be responsible for leading and developing a team and ensure the successful delivery of both product and service in line with the company’s overall strategy.
- Ensure growth in sales and margin, adjusting margin and price policies, improving product lines and promos.
- Be responsible for the forward planning of promotional activity for the successful implementation of new categories and ensuring their success.
- Have direct ownership of the budget and ensure that the categories within business are commercially minded.
You must have comprehensive experience of undertaking the above duties in a similar role and must also meet the following requirements:
- You should have extensive, demonstrable experience in buying homeware
products, devising product lines and negotiating pricing with suppliers.
- You will have transferrable visual merchandising skills & abilities.
- Demonstrable experience of development and ownership of product
strategies for multiple departments & exit strategies for unsuccessful
platforms/product placement.
- Proven experience of leading end to end purchasing across assigned
categories including Flooring, Art, Soft Furnishings, Lighting, Gifting,
tableware and glassware.
- You must have extensive experience with product sourcing and negotiating
and previously attended trade shows worldwide.
- Have proven ability to build relationships with key internal and external
stakeholders.
- Have previous experience of managing and leading teams for both retail and e-commerce
- Experience in dealing with international shipments and consolidation to
ensure timely delivery.
- Have a proven track record of private label buying and the successful
implementation and launch of the products.
- Previous experience leading, managing and mentoring staff and can
demonstrate a commitment to productivity & performance.
- You should be committed, driven and display an excellent eye for detail,
fashion, colours and design.
- Computer literate with full working knowledge of Microsoft Office package.
- Be an excellent communicator – must be fluent in English.
Based in London. Salary range for this role is £50 - £65k DOE.
