Successful test and control engineering business is looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join a growing team. Investment in new technology and a strong commitment to year on year growth, this company is looking to expand its research and development capability. Projects will offer the opportunity for the successful candidate to apply their engineering skills to develop new products to meet the needs of diverse customers, including medical, aerospace and transport. The successful applicant will join an established Research & Development team within the group.

The Embedded Software Engineer will be required to liaise with end-users to determine requirements, to develop comprehensive technical specifications, and to undertake design and development activities necessary to develop marketable products under the supervision of the R & D Manager. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience of embedded C/C++ programming. Experience in VHDL also would be an advantage.

Specific Duties
- Microcontroller firmware development
- Software Design Documentation
- Software Testing and Review to assist more junior firmware engineering team members
- Requirements capture and tracking
- Technical leadership and input to product planning meetings
- Design ownership with creation and maintenance of documentation

Essential Skills / Experience
- 2:2 or higher degree in computer system engineering or a related subject or relevant industry experience
- 5 years’ experience in embedded C or embedded C++
- Software Development Methodologies
- ARM processors experience and STM Platform experience
- Experience of writing documentation for engineering projects
- Good communication skills, written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Willingness to travel to customer premises in UK and abroad
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated
- Team player with drive to progress to senior level

Desirable Skills / Experience
- FPGA programming experience
- Design and prototyping of electronic hardware
- Experience developing innovative projects
- Familiarity with audio codecs and FFT analysis
- Agile / Scrum
