The Company is a leading B2B publisher within the food and drink manufacturing industry, providing daily news content and features that help their readers make better decisions they have two print titles as well as a website and some of the strongest social channels in their industry.
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Editor will hold overall responsibility for an ambitious and energetic editorial team, currently consisting of two in-house editors and one freelancer.
The Senior Editor will also be expected to offer support and assistance to their current editors, attend regular management and board meetings, devise and implement new ways of working that improve reader loyalty, and establish new editorial strategy.
A background in trade publishing, as well as a keen interest in the business of food and drink, will be a significant advantage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conceiving, commissioning, writing and editing - ntent for various channels – particularly features for their magazine and their website
- Leading the editorial team at management level, developing new ways of working that improve content quality and reader loyalty
- Representing the company at important events and client visits, with frequent travel overseas
- Acting as an advocate for the food and beverage industry, forging strong relationships with clients and establishing a profile among key stakeholders
- Keeping a finger on the pulse of food and drink, its latest trends, and the challenges that manufacturers face
- Editing copy to style and ensuring that the company maintains high standards within the house style
- Contributing to a varied output – from video interviews and podcasts to features, editorials, op-eds and newsletters
ATTRIBUTES
- At least 3 years’ experience in a B2B environment, or similar
- Line management experience, or comparable
- Relevant degree and an established profile as an editor
- The initiative to devise and implement new content, find better ways of working, seek out greater value for clients and readers, and support the current editorial team in their daily work
- Exceptionally high standard of written and oral communication, accuracy, attention to detail, and grasp of the English language
- Strong understanding of digital publishing – SEO best practice, social media conventions, news gathering, video and audio production
- Literacy with Adobe Photoshop and Wordpress are big advantages
- Strong understanding of media law, ethics, and copyright
- The ability to lead day-to-day content production and as part of the senior management team
- A passion for food and drink, and how it can better serve society
