This North London based Construction Company is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to help deliver a range of commercial and residential new build, extended and refurbishment projects with values ranging between £0.5m to £5.0m.

The position is for a Quantity Surveyor to deliver a number of projects under the supervision of the senior management team, primarily providing expert advice on construction cost. The projects will be varied in nature from new build to refurbishment, commercial and residential. The successful applicant will generally be involved in assisting the construction team to keep a control on costs from inception to completion and will be working directly with the Project Manager. They are looking for strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to cost plan and deliver a project within budget.

Applicant:

- Should preferably have a Quantity Surveying degree and be accredited by the RICS. Have experience of successfully delivering commercial and residential projects with values between £0.5m and £5m.
- Have construction knowledge and experience
- Have an understanding of contractual agreements
- Good communication skills to liaise with construction team, professional design team and clients.
- Have a good working knowledge of project systems, processes and procedures.
- Have an understanding of Health & Safety processes and regulations
- Have a proven track record of delivering construction projects within budget.
- Have good numerical and computer skills and be familiar with MS Excel and Asta Powerproject software.

Will be required to:
- Prepare construction and procurement programmes.
- Prepare cost plans, estimates and cash flow projections for tenders and contracts
- Produce monthly valuations and raise Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs) for all packages, this includes valuation of variations
- Produce bills of quantities for tenders and the procurement team
- Attend cost meetings with client or contractors QS
- Assist Project Manager in value engineering
- Report progress on a weekly basis to the senior management team
- Manage tenders and procurement of specialist suppliers and sub-contractors
- Responsible for the cost management of the allocated work packages

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, building contract knowledge including JCT, strong experience in tendering and cost consultancy experience in the commercial sector.
