This premier helmet manufacturer has an exciting opportunity for Quality Engineer to join their Quality Team in Letchworth Garden City.

The purpose of this position is to:
- Analyse, report and monitor the performance of their products, purchased goods and processes.
- Focus on continual improvement of products and processes.
- Provide support for the Quality Management System (QMS) as required for implementation and maintenance of BS EN ISO 9001 standard.
- Aim to achieve AS 9100

Key duties:
- Maintain key elements of the QMS
- Collect/analyse/disseminate QMS data
- Conduct Internal and supplier QMS audits and participate in external audits
- Investigate and address customer complaints and in-house quality failures.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement teams
- Participate in root cause analysis, Process analysis & corrective action teams.
- Define & document acceptance criteria for products and processes.
- Evaluate, measure and monitor supplier performance.
- Interpret customer and internal quality requirements and develop quality plans to ensure conformance.
- Review and submission of technical files/certification requirements of approval agencies
- First article inspection (knowledge of AS9100)
-Coordinate measuring machine (interpret results) – knowledge of PCDMIS an advantage
- Participate in PFMEA/DFMEA

Person Specification:
- Substantial experience in quality function of a manufacturing company
- Computer literate with experience of using all Microsoft Office systems, bespoke IT packages, databases, and data analysis software.
- Good verbal and written communication and inter-personal skills at all levels
- Hands on approach at investigating and solving hardware and process problems
- Knowledge and awareness of BS EN ISO 9001 Quality Management System
- Knowledge of submission of technical files and product certification

Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to understand and solve technical manufacturing problems
- Ability to use metrology measurement techniques and outputs.
- Good oral & written communication skills
- Team focused with the ability to participate in cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with QMS standards such as BS EN ISO 9001 and BS EN ISO14001 EMS.
- Conversant with six sigma, other Process Control tools, statistical techniques and FMEA
- Clean driving licence
- Education and Qualification:
- BTec,HND or degree in Mechanical engineering
- Significant experience in quality concepts, metrics and problem solving methodologies in an engineering manufacturing industry
- Use of Minitab or equivalent statistical software packages a must
- Lean/six-sigma experience
- Working knowledge of CMM and other metrology measurement methods
