This is an opportunity to join an award winning UK textile innovator, independently owned, specialising in the design & manufacture of contract upholstery fabrics for commercial interiors and mass passenger transport. The company is based in West Yorkshire's textile heartland, with additional manufacturing in Lithuania and Nottingham, where it extends global reach into some 80 countries worldwide via established offices, warehousing and distribution channels in Europe, North America, China and Australia.

Purpose

The purpose of this role is to ensure that this company meet established quality standards and specifications, working closely with the supply base to ensure all incoming goods and suppliers are assessed for capability, reliability and performance.

Responsibilities

- Effective day to day management of the Quality Assurance team. Manage, motivate, coach and develop your team to enable them to succeed in all aspects of their role.
- To provide training and technical support to both internal and external stakeholders.
- To develop and maintain a robust quality assurance procedure for fabrics and raw materials.
- To execute technical approvals and validation of inbound materials specifications and standards.
- Working closely with the Product Development and Supply Chain teams, identify and mitigate product risk for new materials.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the company Technical Governance Strategy in relation to non-conformances and quality assurance.
- Lead cross functional project teams to investigate the root cause of non-conformances, identify and ensure implementation of corrective / preventative actions to continuously improve quality.
- Monitor the effectiveness of corrective and preventative actions, and take action as appropriate.
- Audit new and existing suppliers to ensure their quality expectations are clearly communicated, measured and met.
- Manage and reduce their cost of poor quality by reporting issues, chairing monthly meetings, implementing cross functional project teams and setting improvement measurable targets.

Education / Skills / Knowledge / Experience

- Minimum of Degree level in Textile Technology, Engineering and / or Chemicals.
- Extensive technical knowledge of production techniques and testing standards within the yarn / fabric manufacturing industry.
- Minimum of 5 years management experience.

Additional requirements
