This company is internationally recognised for their domestic and contract interior textiles.

Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Director with full responsibility for the forecasting, procurement and stock management processes. One of the country’s leading suppliers of soft furnishings is looking to strengthen their existing team with the recruitment of a Purchasing & Inventory Control Manager. The main responsibilities of the role will include but are not limited to the following:

Key Responsibilities
- Management of stock – including forecasting and scheduling in a timely manner and within budgets to ensure availability as required, along with ability to assess levels of stock and action where necessary if excessive.
- Daily management of a large number of SKU’s within the business
- Controlling the movement of all inbound stock from both the UK and overseas
- Produce accurate daily and weekly reports on out of stocks, supplier and quality issues and proactively work to improve the KPI’s with the team
- Continuous improvement of purchasing systems and activities
- Negotiation with suppliers, supplier management and error resolution
- Regular review of costs and benchmarking to ensure we are always buying at the most competitive prices
- Oversee the day to day running of the planning/buying Team
- Liaise with key internal stakeholders including sales, warehouse and quality teams to minimise disruption caused by stock outs, obsolete stock or delayed deliveries
- Other ad hoc duties as required for the fulfilment of the role

Essential Skills
- Experience within a similar role in a SME
- Must have an direct experience of import procedures
- A hands on manager with the skills to manage and develop a small team
- Excellent IT skills including Excel and experienced in using an in house stock management system i.e. Mertex
- Excellent interpersonal skills and negotiating skills along with an eye for attention to detail
- Possess a professional approach to business with a positive can do attitude
- Flexible and be able to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines with the minimum of supervision
- Be happy to travel to visit suppliers / exhibitions etc.

Desirable Skills
- Experience of working within a textile industry would be a distinct advantage
