Based at their headquarters in Edinburgh (UK) and reporting to the Technology Manager, the candidate will support the company’s immediate project to build a solar PV cell and module manufacturing facility at a green-field site in China.
With manufacturing tools due to be delivered to site from August 2017 the candidate must become familiar with the technology, equipment and operation of cell and module manufacture.
The focus will be on project support including the inspection of equipment prior to shipment and will involve intensive support to process commissioning in China.

Experience
It is expected that the candidate will have 5 years’ experience in manufacturing or factory commissioning. The candidate will have some experience of technology transfer and preferably have been involved in a similar start-up in the solar manufacturing or semi-conductor industries. Lean manufacturing experience and culture is a must.

Tasks
·Become fully familiar with the solar PV manufacturing chain and the technology for the fabrication of nPERT cells and bifacial modules
·Monitor the progress of sub-contractors in the fabrication of manufacturing equipment in sites largely throughout mainland Europe
·Undertake acceptance testing of equipment prior to shipment at manufacturers sites
·Support the start-up and commissioning of the manufacturing process in the factory. This will include working in China for periods of 3-6 weeks at a time
·Match final customer needs with turn key supplier deliverables, assuring a smooth transition
·Support the company with the preparation of tender documents for similar projects expected in other regions of the world

Key Attributes
·A degree in Engineering, Physics or Chemistry
·Lean manufacturing culture and experience
·Some post-degree experience in industry or possibly technology transfer from a research institute
·Good communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
·Demonstrate initiative, self-motivation and ability to get things done and bringing others around to their way of thinking
·Direct, honest, forthright, with impeccable integrity and respect for others
·The candidate must have a strong technical background and deploy this expertise with a practical, hands-on approach to completing tasks on-time and in-budget
·Appreciation of what drives quality in modern manufacturing and how this is best implemented
