Production Manager

Engineering / Monitoring / Measuring equipment

Greater Manchester

c£35K basic + bonus and pension benefits

This company designs, manufactures and distributes an innovative range of monitoring and measuring equipment and associated products for the gas, utilities and other process industries. The business has ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001 accreditations and is in the process of implementing ISO 14001.

Based in Greater Manchester, they have invested substantially in product development over the last few years, acquired an additional business and are now about to move into larger premises. As part of this growth and expansion they wish to appoint a Production Manager.

Reporting to the Managing Director, this is a new post carrying full responsibility for all production operations including:

- day to day management of a small skilled and semi-skilled workforce (c15)
- scheduling and planning for production of both standard and bespoke products
- effective use of their cloud based production management system to ensure efficient materials usage, stock management and procurement of components and consumables
- quality, health & safety and environment

You will be a key member of the management team and success in this role will lead to further progression as the business grows and develops. Working hours are Monday to Friday (38 hours) and do not involve any shift work.

Applicants should have the following experience / attributes

- proven experience in production operations, either at team leader, supervisor or management level
- experience within an engineering environment that includes assembly operations and fabrication / welding would be useful but not essential
- a can-do, lead-by-example attitude with a strong focus on quality and Continuous Improvement
- good people management skills with the ability to motivate others and build a team culture
- manage resources and ensure that all direct reports are adequately trained
- focused on achieving key deliverables, e.g. on-time deliveries
- organised, determined, plans and manages time effectively
