THE COMPANY
This successful, award winning and rapidly growing company designs and supplies industrial incinerators and waste management equipment. The equipment is sold globally to a wide range of customers including governments, international aid organisations and multi-national corporations.

The Job holder will report to the Operations Manager/Director and oversee the production department as they seek to improve their efficiencies, reduce lead times, increase their product range and plan for their future expansion.

Key Duties

- Day-to-day management of factory floor staff, with the assistance of the factory supervisor.

- Daily review and management of the order book/production timetable to plan and agree and maintain efficient and effective production schedules.

- Identify and develop timely and cost effective. solutions and improvements to reduce/eliminate production related problem issues and improve productivity.

- Liaise effectively with Sales and Logistics communicating lead times and anticipated delivery dates and with Technical and Operations so that pipeline orders are accurately forecast and that new orders are seamlessly incorporated into production schedules.

- Apply advanced engineering knowledge to guide shop floor staff as they work to resolve day-to-day problems and to improve their production methods and ability to problem solve.

- Work with sales and technical/design departments to constantly improve the design and engineering of their existing product range as well as conducting R&D on new products for the market.

- Manage the procurement function and relationships with key suppliers to optimise costs, streamline deliveries, improve the design and increase efficiency.

- Work with the Operations Manager/Director to design, plan and implement the installation of larger projects on time and within budget.

- Work with technical and finance departments to ensure reliable and accurate records of manufacture, product costings and designs are maintained.

- Ensure effective record keeping and adherence to quality standards and regulations.

- Deputise for the Operations Manager/Director

KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

- Qualifications in engineering (BEng, HND, HNC) or equivalent gained through experience.
- Previous experience of a similar role in heavy plant/industrial manufacturing.
- Experience and training in people management.
- Broad experience of working to CAD/Solidworks drawings and of design principles.
- Knowledge of Quality and Environmental Management systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Highly numerate
- Effective in written and verbal communication.
- A proven record of delivering a technical role effectively and of building and contributing to a professional team environment.

FLEXIBILITY REQUIRED
- Occasionally required to work outside of office hours
- May occasionally be required to stay overnight in hotel accommodation.
