Location: 10 miles out of Cardiff

The Role:

They are looking for a strong, commercially focussed leader who will use standard systems and processes to actively manage and coach the production teams within the CCPS department in order to deliver the production schedules in the most effective and efficient way to meet customer requirements. You will also use appropriate CI tools & techniques to drive improvements to efficiency, delivery, and quality in a planned and structured way.

Main responsibilities:

- To lead, develop and coach Teamleaders for high performance and achieve production SLA’s and KPI’s
- Build and inspire the team to achieve the shared department vision and business goal
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Ensure robust procedures and practices are in place to ensure all members of the production team have capabilities to perform their roles effectively
- Audit systems and standard work to ensure adherence to process
- Carry out ‘go-look-see’ activity and coach teams in structured problem solving in order to make improvements and develop standard responses
- To be an active part of the production management team to continually review and develop best practice production processes and systems
- Review, development and implement robust processes and procedures to ensure on-going and accurate reporting of departmental performance metrics.
- Manage and control agreed budgets
- Ensure working practices are reviewed and continuously improved

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and best practices
- Demonstrable experience of implementing and driving through improvement and change
- Extensive experience in production/engineering management and systems
- Experience of leading large teams within a production environment
- Extensive experience in coaching large teams to deliver business objectives
- Budget management
- BTec Higher or NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in an engineering/ technical/ discipline, preferably either mechanical, chemical or production/systems engineering
