This thriving and expanding manufacturing business requires an outstanding and driven Production Director to join their executive team and take a very active role in their future growth. As one of the London Stock Exchange’s ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ and a fast growing business, they pride themselves on being an entrepreneurial business with ambitious plans. Having undergone a programme of investment and asset replacement, they have proactively built their senior team and they now require a new Production Director with good relevant experience to play a pivotal role within their executive leadership team.
This is a challenging role due to the multi-product range they offer and diversity in production requirements and demands.
About the role
Role objective - direct accountability for the effective and efficient running of our production teams; ensuring delivery of KPI's for quality and quantitative production output.
Main responsibilities
Senior Executive Team
- Represent production at management level, ensuring the Senior Management Team are fully aware of progress and developments, risk and issues.
- Participate in discussions with ideas, thoughts and suggestions on the wider business strategy as appropriate.
Production – management and oversight
- Support, train, develop and manage the Production Managers to fully perform to the requirements of their role.
- Report on progress and/or issues to the MD as needed, and provide an update on production and solutions where issues/concerns have arisen.
- Ensure the quality of production is sufficient to keep steel waste to a minimum.
- Create and maintain efficiency and effectiveness of production at all times.
- Manage work schedules, holidays and absences to ensure appropriate people resource is available across all production areas to deliver to requirements at all times.
- In the absence (pre-planned or unforeseen) of a manager in production, ensure appropriate cover is in place to ensure on-going production.
People management
- Monitor individual performance to ensure everyone in the team is performing fully to expectations, and deal with under performance immediately.
- Ensure all un-planned absences due to illness, sickness or for other reasons are managed properly.
- Conduct regular 121’s / job chats with each person.
- Implement effective development plans for the Production Managers in line with their abilities and desire to progress.
