This client is a well respected Rail Company operating from Doncaster with sites across the North & South of England.

Key focus of this role will be effective people management. The role will require someone to have excellent technical expertise – but importantly show you are a strong inspirational leader to support and drive a team of very talented engineers to meet their potential and aspirations.

Role and Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring all engineering projects and associated activities meet stringent safety, quality, cost and delivery targets for national and international markets.
- Ensure the Engineering team defines, delivers and supports competitive, validated designs and technical solutions that satisfy project and customer requirements.
- Responsible for product technical, quality and safety standards and overseeing projects from inception through to final delivery and field testing to ensure compliance.
- Ensure all Quality Procedures are implemented and followed to ensure that all activities within the Engineering Function are fully compliant with the quality management system.
- Review, maintain and develop engineering tools, software and processes that meet current and future products and business requirements.
- Develop the Engineering Product Design and Development team to accelerate the introduction of new innovative projects from conception through to customer delivery.
- Create the vision and strategic direction for new products
- Lead, inspire and motivate the team to deliver innovative design solutions.
- Provide resource planning and manage the effective utilisation of the engineering team to meet customer and business requirements.
- Identify Engineering skills and capability gaps within the team and implement appropriate strategies to enhance and develop these (focusing both on present and future demands).
- Participate and support the development and implementation of the wider business strategy for the UK and targeted overseas territories.
- Represent the Company at external forums, conferences, exhibitions and customer events / meetings.
- Work in a safe manner, taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other people at work, following Health and Safety guidance, training and company rules and procedures as appropriate.
- Report accidents, hazards or dangerous / unsafe behaviour to the line manager immediately.

Essential Criteria
- Educated to a degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline, chartered
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a product development role at senior level
- Background in product design, development and innovation and design for manufacture
- Sound commercial and business acumen
- Strong project management and presentation skills
- Ability to create forward strategic product development plans
- Excellent proven leadership skills, with responsibility for multi-site team
